Colonials News · Cornell honored by SBCSC for being selected to Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team

At  Halftime of the Boys Basketball game Tuesday night against Concord, Former Clay Standout Jaraan Cornell was honored for being named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary team. Former Athletic Director Greg Humnicky who represented the Hall of Fame, Current Athletic Director Al Hartman and SBCSC Administrator  Howard Edwards made the presentation. Here is a bio on Cornell. 1996 Indiana All-Star, two-time AP 1st team all-state, three-time IBCA 1st team all-state, three-time Bloomington H-T 1st team all-state and two-time Indianapolis News 1st team all-state and was 1996 Parade Magazine 3rd team All-American… averaged 21.8 points per game as senior for 22-4 sectional and Northern Indiana Conference champions… set Clay H.S. record of 1,700 career points, averaged 18.9 points as junior for 20-2 team and 17.0 points as sophomore on 27-2 1994 Indiana state champions… a member of teams with 84-15 overall record and 31-4 conference record, two conference titles, two sectional titles and one state championship… started 105 times in 125 games played in career at Purdue University, with career totals of 1,595 points, 390 rebounds, 269 assists and 176 steals… averaged double-figure scoring in each of his four seasons for teams that were 91-43 with four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2000 Elite Eight… named team MVP as a junior and two-time 3rd team all-Big Ten selection… he is a mentor & program director for Heroes Camp Inc… he has two children and resides in South Bend
