Boys Varsity Football · South Bend Tribune Article on Football

Below is a great article on The Football team written by the South Bend Tribune.

Clay first-year coach Darius Mitchell had just 19 players suited up for the game, many of whom played on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Though the Colonials lost handily 45-8 to Riley, they surrendered just 263 total yards.

“It was 10-0 at the half and then we gave up 14 points in less than a minute,” said Mitchell, whose Colonials hope to end their three-game losing streak Friday night at home against NIC South rival Washington. “We’ve got to clean up the mental mistakes.”

Mitchell thought junior Michael McSorley stood out in the game at both running back and mostly middle linebacker. “He’s been battling an injury, but he never complains; he goes out and gives his all every game,” Mitchell said. “Kenny Lax (five receptions for 41 yards while also seeing defensive action) really stood out and so did Brandon Clark (defensive end and running back, scoring Clay’s only touchdown).”
